Pierre-François Mourier, the newly appointed French Consul General in San Francisco, was on Monday September 17 the special guest of the American Jewish Committee Board of Directors.
Addressing the Board of Directors, Consul General Mourier shared his personal experience as senior adviser for studies and speeches to former French President Jacques Chirac, especially when he wrote the two speeches President Chirac delivered at the national ceremony marking the centenary of Alfred Dreyfus’s rehabilitation (Paris, July 13, 2006), and the one he delivered on January 18, 2007 at a national ceremony in honor of the Righteous of France (in French "les Justes"), those French women and men who, risking their own lives during WWII, hid and saved children, women and men who were persecuted because they were Jews.
Consul General Mourier then expressed his optimism in what can be called a new page in French-American relations, and ended his speech with a broad overview of the international situation, particularly in the Middle-East.
