Jean-Pierre Changeux is a French neuroscientist known for his research in biology, from the structure and function of proteins to the early development of the nervous system up to cognitive functions.

He is known in the non-scientific world for his ideas regarding the connection between mind and physical brain. His book "Conversations on Mind, Matter and Mathematics" supports the view of the nervous system as active rather than reactive and that interaction with the environment, rather than instruction, results in the selection of preexisting internal representations.
