TEACHER WORKSHOP FOR LANGUAGE TEACHERS: GET FLUENT WITH ART. Explore historical and cultural treasures of Spain and France at the Legion of Honor with the Capital World Language Project. Working in Spanish or French, participants will practice strategies to use in the galleries with their own classes on trips to the Legion of Honor. This will include Visual Thinking Strategies, journaling using authentic texts and collection objects, as well as quick sketching for post museum visit classroom speaking activities. CANOE ISLAND FRENCH SUMMER CAMP. Canoe Island is truly a magical place for children. Summer campers make their home on this 47-acre island in the San Juan Islands of Washington for two or three weeks and combine French language and culture with the fun of summer camp: kayaking, sailing, swimming, fencing and cooking, and participating in theater, art and archery. http://www.canoeisland.org
