Attention: As of the 1st of March 2007, all UNIVERSITY students and those OVER 18 years of age who wish to follow studies in France must first enroll with "CampusFrance" in order to obtain a student visa for France.You will need to obtain A PROOF OF PAYMENT FROM CAMPUSFRANCE Please visit www.usa.campusfrance.org or send an email to e-mail adress: campusfrance@ambafrance-us.org for more information. This new procdure only concerns:
- the studies for a period of time superior to three months
- the studies after high-school education.

The French Consulate reserves the right to ask for more documentation if necessary and to refuse the delivery of a visa
To apply, please make an appointement and present the following items in person:

- Passport valid for 3 months beyond the applicant’s last day in France (+ 1 photocopy) YOUR PASSPORT MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO BLANK VISA PAGES REMAINING

- 1 Long Stay application form legibly filled out and signed - (Remember to indicate a date of departure)

- 1 passport photograph (color or black and white, approx. 35x45 mm, clear background)

- For non US citizens, Proof of legal residence in the US (visa, permanent resident card…) (+ 1photocopy)

- A letter of admission (pre-enrollment) from a University which the applicant will attend in France. This school must be recognized by the French Cultural Office (+ 1 photocopy)

- Financial guarantee: A notarized statement (from the parents) certifying that the applicant will receive a monthly allowance of 800 US dollars for the duration of her/his stay in France AND their last 3 bank statements, or a proof of (student’s) personal income and their last 3 bank statements and a letter from the University stating that room, board and tuition are fully prepaid (+ 1 photocopy)

- Proof of medical insurance with coverage valid for France if you are attending a school or university for a stay less than 6 months OR if you are 28 or older regardless of the length of your studies (+ 1 photocopy). You will have to prove that the coverage is valid while you study in France with a letter from your medical insurance.

- A printout of your ID number from Campus France. Campus France cannot activate your account until you’ve completely finished creating your profile on their site (download and read the Guide to Campus France Registration PDF from their homepage) AND send them payment and a photocopy of your admission letter, AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR VISA APPOINTMENT.

- Round trip ticket if you are studying 6 months or less (+ 1 photocopy) or a one way ticket only if you are studying in France more than 6 months (+ 1 photocopy).

THIS VISA MUST BE OBTAINED IN THE COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE, it CANNOT be issued in France

Please submit the following documents in person at least one month in advance:

- Passport valid for 3 months beyond the applicant’s last day of stay in France (+ 1 photocopy)

- Non US citizens: proof of residency in the US (+ 1 photocopy)

- 1 application forms legibly filled out and signed - (Remember to indicate a date of departure)

- 1 passport-size photographs (color or black and white, 35x45 mm, clear background)

- Certificate of school registration or pre-enrollment letter (+ 1 photocopy)

- Notarized parental authorization signed by both parents, authorizing the student to travel (+ 1 photocopy)

- Notarized letter of parental financial support guaranteeing at least 800$ per month and parents’ 3 last bank statements (+ 1 photocopy)

- "Engagement de prise en charge" by the host family in France (+ 1 photocopy)

- Affidavit from the sponsoring organization (+ 1 photocopy)

- The minor’s birth certificate (+ 1 photocopy)

- Vaccination records and TB vaccine info (+ 1 photocopy)

- Health coverage valid for France (+ 1 photocopy)

- Proof of liability insurance (+ 1 photocopy)

- Student’s recent report cards or transcripts, especially those showing coursework in French (+ 1 photocopy)

- Plane ticket (+ 1 photocopy)
