Schengen visas are issued for stays up to 90 days and are valid for the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Czech Republic.
The Schengen agreement does not apply to the French Overseas Departments and Territories. Only the Consulate of France can issue visas for those destinations. If you are spending the longest part of your trip in France, you have to apply with the French Consulate. If you are spending more time in another Schengen country (even if France is the first entry!), you’ll have to apply at the Consulate of the country where you stay the longest. Also the main purpose of the stay will determine in which consulate you have to apply.. Travelers going to Monaco obtain their Schengen visas from the French Consulate.

YOU MUST BRING ALL THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE TYPE OF VISA FOR WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING PLUS PHOTOCOPIES ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT.

Passport valid for three months beyond the last day in Schengen States AND 1 photocopy of each of the following: 1. the page with your name and date of birth 2. the page with the expiration date/ extension 3. all the Schengen and American visas in your passport. YOUR PASSPORT MUST BE LESS THAN TEN YEARS OLD AND MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO BLANK "VISA" PAGES REMAINING
Proof of legal status in the United States (green card, valid visa, I20, I94) (+ 1 photocopy) NO VISAS WILL BE ISSUED FOR B1/B2 HOLDERS
1 Short Stay Schengen application form legibly filled out and signed
1 recent passport-size photograph (color or black and white, 35x45 mm, clear background)
Financial guarantees : last 3 bank statements (+ 1 photocopy) and the last 3 paystubs (+ 1 photocopy)- Homemakers should provide their spouse’s documents (letter of employer or business license and the last 3 bank statements) and marriage certificate - If self-employed provide a business license and the last 3 bank statements (please also bring photocopies).
PROOF OF HEALTH INSURANCE: You must provide proof of health insurance. Your current policy is acceptable if it covers you abroad in an emergency. Travel insurance for the duration of your trip is also acceptable. In either case, the policy should cover you for up to 30,000€ (currently $38,000).

Confirmed hotel reservation of all the countries you will visit for each single night spent in Europe (+ 1 photocopy) or "Attestation d’Accueil" obtained from the City Hall by the host in France (+ 1 photocopy)
If you are staying with friends or family in France, your host has to provide you an attestation d’accueil. No visa will be issued without this document.
ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS ABOVE PLUS an official letter (original and a photocopy) from the employer stating that the applicant is going on their behalf and taking full responsability for all expenses incurred during the trip and for the return to United States with a contact information in France (original + 1 photocopy). In some cases you will also be asked to provide an invitation letter from the French company you are visiting (original + 1 photocopy). Note that a circulation 1 year visa can be issued for business if the employer mentions in the letter that you need to travel frequently to France.

Please be aware that Business visa are issued only "to meet clients". If you are going to work (train, advise, or provide technical assistance…), your employer needs to file a work permit with the Labor Department (DDTEFP).
If traveling alone, a notarized parental authorization signed by both parents and the name, address, and telephone number from the person in charge in France (+ 1 photocopy) - If traveling with one parent, a notarized parental authorization from the other parent (+ 1 photocopy); in either case please bring the child’s birth certificate (+ 1 photocopy)
